COVID Information

  1. The following recreational guidelines take effect June 4

    The Recreation Center opened June 1. New safety precautions are in place, and users are required to reserve a one-hour time slot online for one of six workout zones which each accommodate up to 10 people. The lap pool will open Monday, June 8.  One-hour lap lane reservations will be available on-line. Lap lanes are limited to one person per lane per hour. Restrooms and showers are open, while lockers remain closed. 

    The Miller Activity Complex is currently being used exclusively for our Summer Camp programming and is not open to the general public. The Town’s parks, open spaces and trails are open and the Challenge Hill is open for one-way use. 

    The Town received approval from the Tri-County Health Department to operate licensed day camps. All camps are now open and registration is currently available. More information available at CRgov.com/Camps.

    Organized recreational youth or adult league sports may resume with no more than 25 players outdoors or 10 players indoors. Our youth athletic programs are now scheduled to start June 8 and adult athletics will start June 15 for the summer session.

    All special events have been cancelled for June. More information on the summer events schedule is coming soon.

    Playgrounds – including the FitGround at PSM Park and outdoor sports facilities, such as the skate park, basketball, tennis and pickleball courts are now open for use for no more than 10 people at at time. Park pavilions, picnic areas, group gathering areas are open for use for no more than 10 people at a time.

    Outdoor pools will open June 22 by reservation only for a 90-minute time slot. The pool is limited to 50 people at a time, with bathrooms and showers open, but lockers will remain closed.  Frequently touched surfaces, shared objects and bathrooms will be cleaned and disinfected between each reservation time slot.

Please remember to practice social distancing, maintain a distance of at least 6 feet, additionally, local health officials recommend wearing a face covering while in public. The intent remains to limit interactions to only those within your own household. Good hygiene – like not touching your face, and washing your hands well, and often – also remains important. 


Overview

The Youth Division provides classes and events to promote self and social growth for children
and teens in a positive, safe and fun environment. All programs build and promote self-esteem, creativity, physical fitness and social awareness while encouraging children to make new friends and participate in new activities.

Arts and Crafts

KidzArt: Imagine Weekly Drawing Classes (ages 5-12)

Students “power up” their creative energy at KidzArt! Students are exposed to a variety of artistic styles, cultural interpretations and materials. Students will complete an original drawing and color it using different mediums each class time (all materials included). “If you can dream, you can draw!”

Day / time: Thursday, 4:45-6 p.m.
Fee: $75 resident ($88 nonresident)

New! KidzArt: Explore! (for homeschool students) 

This weekly art program for homeschool students will build self-confidence, teach creative problem-solving and encourage students to exercise their “creative muscles” while they learn how to draw. KidzArt meets national standards for visual arts. Complete an original project each class. All materials included.

Youth and Adult Olympic Fencing

Discover the exciting sport of Olympic Fencing! Fencing is a centuries old art and is gaining in popularity each year. Fencing is a mental and physical sport that builds your agility, strength and stamina. It also teaches you focus, strategic thinking and problem solving. Our class fosters competition, confidence, respect and self-discipline in a safe and fun environment.  This is great sport for parents and children!

This six-week program includes an introduction to the history of fencing, weapons, target areas and fencing technique. The use of equipment is included in the class fee.
