Outdoor enthusiasts and fitness buffs are always looking for ways to change things up. But, changing your workout could change someone’s life. Join the fourth annual Climb4Change event Saturday, May 12.

Climb4Change raises money and awareness for the Town’s adaptive recreation program. The program supports members of the community, and their families, who have cognitive and physical disabilities and helps them live an active lifestyle. Funds raised at the event are used to provide scholarships and adaptive equipment for the adaptive recreation program.

These events will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on the Challenge Hill at Philip S. Miller Park. The 200 steps offer a great workout and a great way to give back to the Castle Rock community. The Climb4Change events are:

• Race to the Top – head up the 200 steps once as fast as possible. Can you beat the record of 61 seconds?
• Trail Race – this course will take you up the stairs and back down the half-mile trail. You’ll have 30 minutes to beat the record of six laps.
• Power Hour – up and down the stairs for 60 minutes straight. The record is 18 laps!
• Run4Fun – this untimed event allows you to support the program in a noncompetitive way; once up the stairs and down the trail.

Registration includes coffee, snacks, a participation medal and T-shirt. Fees range from $15 to $45, depending on the course and when you register. Kids under 5 are free. Head to for more information and registration.

On-site packet pickup and registration begins at 7 a.m. Power Hour begins at 8 a.m., the Trail Race begins at 9:25 a.m., the Race to the Top event begins at 10:15 a.m., and the Run4Fun event begins at 10:35 a.m. Results and prizes will be awarded at 11:15 a.m.

Not up for the 200-stair challenge? There are still ways to get involved. Try volunteering for the event! More information is available at Or, become a fundraiser! Entry fees are waved for fundraisers who raise more than $100.
